During the school year, I am a Registered Early Childhood Educator for OCDSB in the Full Day Kindergarten program. I love engaging children in reading and writing through inquiry learning, teaching science and outdoor education through engaging activities, and developing children's problem solving and innovating abilities through play based learning. Different philosophies of education interest me and I have spent time studying and working with the Montessori method, Reggio Emilia philosophy, and Inquiry Based Learning. Throughout my life, I excelled in Science and completed an undergraduate program in this field, taking mostly zoology and biology courses. Between my BSc and RECE, I worked at an orphanage for children with disabilities in Nicaragua. Working with children with disabilities gives me a lot of joy and it is amazing to see their gains when given the right tools to learn.

Hobbies

Currently, I am writing and illustrating a children's science picture book. I love be creative. My paintings are mostly done with watercolour. Photography is one of my passions and I enjoy documenting children's learning with my camera. Camping has always been a big part of my life and from a young age, I spent weeks of the summer canoe camping in the semi-wilderness. Planning and organizing are some of my hobbies and I have kept a bullet journal for work and home use. I enjoy watching videos and learning about organization strategies. I enjoy keeping active and do acrobatics, dance, and swimming.
